William John “Billy” McVady, 55, of Baytown passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in Baytown. 

Billy was born October 9, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York, to parents; William and Carol Hagen McVady, and was a resident of Texas since 1976.  He graduated from the Robert E. Lee High School class of 1980 and then worked as an operator for 38 years, retiring from Linde.  He also enjoyed spending time with family, landscaping, cooking, vacations with family, playing chess, and was an avid sports fan.

Mr. McVady is preceded in death by his father, William E. McVady; mother Carol A. Nelson; step-father Robert L. Nelson; sons Branden Cooper and Edward Jaime Jr; brother Paul McVady.  He is survived by his wife Jennette Riddick McVady; sons Joseph Garcia and Tommy Smith; daughters Jessica Smith and Megan McVady; sisters Lynn Olds and husband Craig, and Christine O’Mealey; sister in law Betty Shaw and husband John; nieces and nephews, Mikel Richardson, Allen Johnson III, Aiden Olds, Devin O’Mealey, Trevor O’Mealey, and Colin O’Mealey, Courtney Shaw, and Amanda Warner and husband Russell; great nephews, Lincoln and Bennett Warner; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels.  Burial will follow at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Baytown. 

Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Joseph Garcia, Tommy Smith, J.R. Gill, John Shaw, Mark Jeffries, Craig Olds, and Tod Rosenbaum.  Honorary pallbearers will be Paul McVady, George Hagen, Aiden Olds, Branden Cooper, Allen Johnson, III, and Mikel Richardson.
