Winnie Lynne Bush

March 28, 1941 ~ August 20, 2019 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

The rain stopped, the clouds parted, and the sun shined brightly as the angels came and escorted Winnie Lynne Ross Bush to heaven in the late morning hours of August 20, 2019.  Affectionately known as Sugar to many, she was born in Gary Indiana on March 28, 1941 to parents James T. and Mary F. Ross who were there to greet her at the gates of heaven.  Also waiting with open arms to welcome her into God’s glory were her sons David Mourer and Kris Mourer, grandson Luke Pafford, brothers Jim Ross and  Gregg Ross and sister Zola Easton along with many of her extended family.

Indiana was home for Sugar growing up, but Texas became her home in the early 1970’s.  Then in 1984, the family decided to move to Paducah, Ky for a fresh start.  Some years later Texas called once again and the family moved back to Baytown, Texas where they stayed.  Sugar was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed the simple things in life.  Family camping trips, Bunco night with the ladies, playing games on her beloved iPad, and just being with family in general were among some of her favorites.  There was nothing quite like the smell of homemade bread coming from her kitchen or seeing some of the many ceramic creations that she so enjoyed doing with her mother.  She also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casinos and win or lose, always had the best time.  Sugar had a carefree spirit and dealt with whatever life threw at her.  She was never afraid to pick up and start anew somewhere different and had the best outlook for each new adventure.  She took what each day brought with a smile and never truly worried about tomorrow.  Even in her last days she was able to give us the lasting gift of one last smile.

Those who remain to carry on the memories of their beloved Sugar are her husband of 54 years, Howard “Buck” Bush, daughter Jamie Mathis, daughter Linda Bush, son Robert Bush and wife Stacy all of Baytown, daughter-in-law Johnnye Faye Mourer of Dayton and daughter-in-law Rosetta Mourer of Baytown, stepson Roy Bush of Baytown, stepson Mike Bush of KY and stepdaughter Teresa Bush of KY.  She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Sarah Prewitt and husband Joe of Baytown, Melissa Winkler and husband Sacha of Corpus Christi, TX, Abbey Mourer of Baytown, Zackery Henley of Paducah, KY, Travis Mourer of Dayton, TX, Harlie Bush of Dayton, TX, and Dallas Bush currently stationed in Japan.  Great-grandchildren surviving her are Tyler Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Hunter Prewitt all of Baytown and Catylia Sherrod of Odessa, TX.  Her brother O.K. Ross of Kosse, TX and sister Linda Wilbanks of Statesville, NC also remain to carry on her memory.

Graveside services with internment to follow will be held at Cedarcrest Cemetery on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 1:00 pm.  Family members will conduct a special remembrance for their beloved Sugar.  Final arrangements are entrusted to Crespo & Jirrels funeral home in Baytown, TX.
