Vera Marie “Nanny” Teten, 91, of Highlands, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Baytown.
Vera was born April 29, 1927 in Dayton, to parents; Bert Maris and Eria Hipp, a former resident of Hardin, and has resided in Highlands since 1988. She was a retired custodian for Humble, Hardin, and Barbers Hill Independent School Districts and Lutheran by faith. She also enjoyed needlework, sewing, raising cattle, and playing bingo, slots, and cards.
Mrs. Teten was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Harry Teten, infant son: Harry Earl Teten, son-in-law: Ron Hanson, granddaughter: Debra Woodall, brothers: Eddie, Earl Lloyd, and Harry Gene Maris, Hamey Perry, and Alvin Maris and wife, Maxine. She is survived by her daughter: Helen Hanson, grandchildren: Troy Woodall and wife, Christina and Cheryl Newton and companion Robert Odell, great-grandchildren: Shailey, Ashley, Kaylin, Taylin, Tori, Tristan, Marcus, and Kimberly, nine great great-grandchildren with one on the way, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to her niece; Janell Maris and the staff at the Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Baytown for their care given to Vera during her stay.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown with interment following at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin.
