Tribute

Timothy L. “Tim” Alford, 54, of Baytown, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, in Baytown.

Tim was born April 3, 1966 in Baytown, Texas, to parents Allen Wayne and Carolyn Adams Alford. He spent most of his life in Baytown, with a short residency in Orange, Texas.  He was a 1984 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, and attended Texas A&M University and Lee College. He recently began teaching OSHA Safety classes at Lee College and enjoyed his students and teaching them the importance of Safety.  Tim was employed for 27 years by Exxon Mobil as a Senior Technician and also helped develop a program for colleges around the United States called Partnership in Academic Lab Safety. In 2014, he received the Responsible Care Award which recognizes exceptional contributions in support of ExxonMobil Chemical’s commitment to safety, help, and environmental performance.  He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church but has been a member of other churches in the area teaching youth and attending Super Summer events where he could share the love of Christ with young adults. Tim was a strong Christian who loved the Lord and had a beautiful relationship with him.  Tim’s prayers were so intimate and strong as he held a conversation with the Lord. He and his wife, Mendy, shared a beautiful relationship that started November 16, 1982 and they were married in March, 1987.  He was a doting husband.  Mendy meant the world to him along with his two sons, Adam and Aaron.  However, his only granddaughter, Audrey, who he affectionately called “Toot” was his pride and joy.  Tim’s love of nature was reflected in his desire to hunt, fish, garden, or camp at every opportunity.  He always said he felt closer to the Lord in those settings.

Tim was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Audrey Adams Bacon and Howard Adams; his paternal grandparents, Allen C. Alford and Annie Ruth Alford; and his father, Allen Wayne Alford.  He is survived by his wife, Mendy Hamilton Alford; his sons, Adam Alford, and Aaron Alford and wife, Breanne; and his granddaughter, Audrey Alford. Also survived by his mother, Carolyn S. Alford; brothers (and their wives), David Alford (Karen Allison), Mark Alford (Leslie), and Paul Alford (Tammy);  Father and Mother-in-Law, Jim and Ernestine Hamilton; Brothers-in-Law (and their wives), Jeff Hamilton (GiGi), and Travis Hamilton (Kristy). He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
