Tim Piland, 77, of Baytown passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, in Baytown.
Tim was born in Houston on March 27, 1943, to parents Carl and Frances Piland. Tim a former resident of Houston, resided in Baytown for the past 18 years. He was a graduate of Sam Houston High School, was a former iron worker, and a retired Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy. Tim was also a combat veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam as an Army Ranger. Later in life, Tim joined Iron Workers Local 84, the Fraternal Order of Police 309, the American Legion, and the VFW Post # 912. Tim also obtained his Professional Association of Diving Instructors certification in Maui and was a proud lifetime member of the NRA.
Tim was a friend to all and at the drop of a hat would help anyone when asked. He would arrive with any tool from his tool arsenal that might even remotely help. He loved passing on his vast construction and mechanical knowledge. Post-retirement, Tim loved to undertake projects all around his property. Tim loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He could not wait until deer season arrived each year so he could load up his trailer and head off to the lease.
Above all else, Tim loved his wife Evelyn, his nephews Robbie and Michael, and his family and friends. He also loved having visitors over and enjoyed family gatherings.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Juarez Piland; son, Christopher Piland; brother, Charles Piland; brother-in-law Robert Juarez and his wife Elizabeth; sister-in-law Ernestine Wallace; nephews, Robert Juarez Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Michael Juarez and his wife Angela, and Larry Juarez; nieces, Cassandra Grissom and Theresa Baucum; great-nieces and nephews, Ethan, Addison, Nathan, Eliana, and Gabriella Juarez, and McKenzie Grissom; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown with interment following at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands.
