Sophia Cordero, of Baytown, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2018. She was born June 7, 1969 to parents Juan and Felipa Cavazos.
Sophia’s presence would light the room up. She never met a stranger and was generally loved by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. Sophia always had a special way of connecting with people. She was always there for the “black sheep” kids, and you could bet that there wasn’t ever any judgement come from her, only love and compassion. Her ability to bond with others led her to play a role in many extracurriculars. She taught volleyball, was the Head Guard and a life guard at the local water park, helped with the score board at games, was the “soccer mom” for her girls, you name it she probably did it at some point! She sure loved her music, from KSBJ to the 80’s, music and dancing brought her joy. The greatest joy of Sophia’s life was her family and every minute spent with them was cherished.
Sophia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Michael Cordero; daughters, April Nate Cordero, Adri Cordero, and Miranda Lee Cordero; sisters, Maria Felipa Cavazos, Anita C. Moyer, and Dolores C. Gonzalez, as well as numerous other family member and friends.
The family will receive friends for a visitation held at Second Baptist Church, 6227 N Main St, Baytown, TX 77521, on Saturday 21, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. Following the visitation will be Memorial service from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, at Second Baptist Church.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
