Shirley Ann Palmer was born November 30, 1934 to Dorothy and William Tyra in Dallas, Texas. She was a woman of tremendous faith, devoted Catholic, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Aunt.
Shirley most of all loved Lou, her loving husband of 66 years. Her favorite activities included: baking, travel, dancing, outings in nature, music, planning parties for her beloved family and friends and watching the Rockets and the Astros with Lou. In addition, she participated in singing for numerous church choirs, Ladies Golf Associations, St. Joseph’s Women’s Altar Society in Baytown and the East Harris County Serra Club. She was also a Regent for Catholic Daughters Court Ancille Marie and Associate Member of Ursuline Sisters at Mount St. Joseph’s in Mapleton, KY.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Patrick and Bill Tyra. She is survived by her spouse Louis Palmer; children Karen Dzilsky and husband Bill, Keith Palmer, Kathy Lemman and husband Douglas, Karla Palmer, and Kyle Palmer; grandchildren Nicole Lemman, Cara Cisneros and husband Robert, and Mazen Al-Rasheed; great-grandchild Isabella Cisneros; God-child Mary Rose Tyra; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday July 15, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary services at 6:30 p.m., at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with funeral procession to follow for internment at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands, TX.
