Ruth E. Yates Corley, 81, of Channelview, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, in Houston.
Ruth was born April 9, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri, to parents; Eugene and Myrtle Willison Yates, and has resided in Channelview for the past 50 years. She was a former substitute teacher for Channelview ISD, Christian Science Reader 1st & 2nd 12 years, Church board member 4th , Head Librarian, Sunday School teacher, Clerk 10 years and secretary, owned Upholstery business, Real Estate agent and homemaker. Mrs. Corley also volunteered at the Crosby Community Center and the Houston Zoo, and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, crafts, and playing the dulcimer.
Mrs. Corley was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Jack Harvey Corley, daughter: Cindy Ellis, and brother: Eugene Yates. She is survived by her daughter: Theresa Eiland and husband David, grandchildren: Corey David Eiland and wife Mindy Eiland, Cameron Keith Eiland and wife Haley Eiland, Joseph Daniel Ellis, and Terry Ellis, great-grandchildren: Sawyer Gracie Eiland and Ayden Ellis, brother: Danny Yates, sister: Betty Schubert, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown.
