Robert J. “Bob” Quintana, Sr., 92, of Smith Point, passed away on July 30, 2017, in Deer Park, Texas.  He was born on September 4, 1924, in San Antonio, Texas, to Joe Quintana and Margurite Klauss.  Mr. Quintana proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was a State Trooper in Baytown.  He left the Department of Public Safety to become a San Antonio patrolman and worked his way up to detective, retiring with twenty-one years of service.  After retiring from the city of San Antonio, Mr. Quintana went to work for Gulf Oil, retiring in 1986.

In 2001, he moved to Smith Point, where he lived until his death. A member of Smith Point Community Church, Mr. Quintana was also a member of Forgery Investigators Association of Texas and the Coastal Conservation Association.

Mr. Quintana is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty R. Quintana; mother, Margurite Klauss; father, Joe Quintana; and brother, Alton Quintana.  He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Emma Dean Quintana; his daughter, Carol Maddox; sons, Robert J. “Jerry” Quintana and wife, Krystal, and David G. Quintana and wife, Susan; granddaughters, Amanda Maddox Buck and husband, Jim, Megan R. Hernandez, and Melissa K. Crafton and husband, Jarod; grandson, Robert Daniel Quintana; six great grandchildren; and many other friends and family members who will miss him in their lives.

The family will receive friends for a memorial service, officiated by Pastor Michael Graves, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Smith Point Community Church, Plummer Camp Road, Smith Point, Texas 77514.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mr. Quintana’s memory to Coastal Conservation Association, 6919 Port West Drive #100, Houston, Texas 77024, 713.626.4222.
