Peggy Darnell Butcher Whiteaker, 75, of Baytown, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side after a courageous battle with cancer, Friday, September 21, 2018, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Peggy was born June 11, 1943 in Liberty, to parents; Arthur and Ethel Bashrum Butcher, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Baytown for many years. She was a retired nurse and will be remembered as a very generous and loving daughter, wife, sister, mom, and friend. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Peggy had a strong faith in God and even helped start the Lighthouse Church in Baytown. She had a knack taking care of her patients and loved spending time with her family as well as the grand dog and grand cats. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Mrs. Whiteaker was preceded in death by her father: Arthur Butcher, husband: C. D. “Curley” Whiteaker, and brother: R. Joe Grebey. She is survived by her mother: Ethel Bashrum Fannett, her daughter: Melissa Whiteaker, aunts: Doris Bashrum and Catherine Bashrum, and special friends: Wanda Levy, and Evelyn Walker, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Dr. Sarti, Amie Martinez, Renee Nona, Dr. Reddy, Dr. Barbandi, Dr. Ho, the staffs of Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and M.D. Anderson Bay Area Chemo Center for their care and support given to Mrs. Whiteaker.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the Lighthouse Church in Baytown, with interment following at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands.
