Nancy Lee "Nanny" Merritt

Nancy Lee “Nanny” Stap Merritt, 63, of Baytown, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, in Houston.

Nancy was born June 30, 1956 in Kingston, New York, to parents; Robert Stap and June Roosa, and has resided in Baytown for the past 58 years.  She attended Ross Sterling High School and was a nanny for numerous people.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing bingo, and cooking.

Mrs. Merritt was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather:  J. C. Cowan.  She is survived by her son:  Chris Merritt and wife Chayla, daughter:  Michelle Crawford, sisters:  Cindy Stap and Robin Smith-Alicie, brother:  Rober’t Stap,  grandchildren:  Cayla Merritt, Ethyn Merritt, Kendall Merritt, Peytyn Merritt, Zandyn Merritt, Gage Crawford, Jake Crawford, Jaiden Carroll, Jenner Trick, and Joshua Trick, great-granddaughter:  Bella Martin, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
