Mattie “Peggy” Lou Wills Phillips, of Baytown, went home to her Lord and Savior after a long life of 92 years. She was born on October 27, 1926 in Panola County, Texas, to parents, Sam Houston Wills and Myrtie Mae Birdwell.
Peggy will always be remembered as a loving Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived for her family and was always praying for them. The grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great grandkids could never do any wrong, and they were precious angels in her eyes. Peggy loved to go to church and lived her life serving God. She was born for a purpose, and she allowed God to guide her to that purpose. She was also a very honest woman and wasn’t afraid to tell you if you were wrong or did something incorrect. Peggy was also selfless and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Phillips; her parents; brother, Wilbert Wills; great-grandchildren, Stephen Loney and Kelsi Winham. Peggy is survived by her children Mary Lou Ayers and husband, Garnie, and Linda Loney and husband, Kenneth; grandchildren, Clinton W. Ayers, Billy Joe Ayers, Rhonda K. Trevino, Rebekah Ann Nethercutt, and Eddie Ayers; 6 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends left to cherish her memory.
The family will welcome friends on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 11 am – 12 pm for a visitation. Immediately followed by the funeral service at Noon. There will be an escorted procession to Cedarcrest Cemetery immediately following the service.
