Marva Justina “Marvalous” Hayling was born on May 14, 1956 in Cunupia, Trinidad & Tobago and departed from this life to everlasting glory on August 4, 2020 in Baytown, TX.

Marva was preceded in death by her parents; Leo Gibson and Sylvia Smith, her loving husband; Bernard Hayling, and her niece; Eulah Shambe.

She is survived by her daughter, Ayana Johnson; sons, Marlon Johnson and Adhiambo Gibson; grandchildren, Jahniya Gibson, Jahsun Gibson, Jayden Johnson- Lee, Marlon Johnson Jr., and a soon to be granddaughter that she just couldn’t wait to hold. Marva is survived by her brothers, Carlyle Gibson and wife Joy, Curtis Gibson and wife Debra; sister, Janice Gibson; nephews, Darnelle Gibson, Jason Gibson, Kevin Gibson, Bradley Gibson, Corey Gibson and Thaddeus Gibson; nieces, Nessa Gibson and Ajuba Gibson as well as numerous other family members and friends.  

During her free time Marva loved gardening, listening to music, and watching TV while she kicked back in her recliner. She especially enjoyed WWE wrestling . Until her recent retirement, she served others as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA). After retirement, she moved to Texas be closer to her sibling and other family members. Spending time with her grandchildren filled her with joy beyond belief. Marva also enjoyed cooking with a knack for West Indian cuisine and she would often make West Indian inspired dishes. 

Services for Mrs. Hayling will be held at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home in Baytown, TX on Monday August 7, 2020. Visitation from 10 am- 1pm with her funeral service beginning at 1pm.

Serving the family as honorary pallbearers will be: Marlon Johnson, Adhiambo Gibson, Carlyle Gibson, Curtis Gibson, Jason Gibson, and Thaddeus Gibson.
