Maria L. Rubio, 73, of Highlands, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020, at her residence.

Maria was born July 19, 1946 in Matamoros, Mexico and has been a resident of Highlands for 20 years.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed drinking coffee throughout her day, listening to music, trips to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Rubio was preceded in death by her parents:  Enrique Sauceda and Rosalia Gracia, grandson:  Juan Armando Rubio.  She is survived by her husband:  Cornado Rubio, Sr., children:  Cornado Rubio, Jr., Donna Westbrook and husband Loren, Juan Rubio and wife Sonia, and Petra Ybarra, sister:  Angelica Machuca, brother:  Juan Olivares, grandchildren:  Brandon Westbrook, Farren Simpson, Kelsey Salter, Veronica Whitmire, Vincent Rubio, Delila Rubio, Juan Rubio, Jr., Franchesqa Ybarra, Patrick Ybarra, and Daniel Ybarra, great-grandchildren:  Alijah Ybarra, Kadynce Medina, Raelynn Ybarra, Paisley Hernandez, Mila Brigham, Azalie Rubio, Destiny Westbrook, Jacob Westbrook, Ella Salter, Liam Salter, Berlynn Whitmire, Lilah Whitmire, Julian Gonzalez, Jonas Gonzalez, Janelli Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will gather with friends and family from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown.
