Margie L Zatopek Kloesel, 88, of Baytown, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020, in Houston from COVID19.

Margie was born November 10, 1931 in Baytown, to parents; Joseph Anton Zatopek and Rose Navratil Zatopek, and has been a lifelong resident of Baytown.  She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, attended Lee College, and received her bachelor’s degree from U of H Clearlake.  As a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she found her ministry in teaching kindergarten at St. Joseph’s Elementary School. As an active member of the San Jacinto Girl Scouts for over 20 years, she touched the lives of many young women. Margie was a business entrepreneur who flipped houses before it became popular and was also a partner at the Kloesel Electric Company with her husband, Ted, and her son, Paul.

Margie was always active in political campaigns and served the Baytown community as an election judge for over a decade. Many were comforted by her at the old San Jacinto hospital where she volunteered as a hospice care-giver.

Margie loved art and ran a successful silk-screening business for about 20 years at the end of the century creating T-shirt designs for various organizations, school districts, and programs.

Margie was an empathetic and energetic role model for her family. She was an independent, courageous woman in a place and time when that wasn’t the norm. Her family feels a debt of gratitude for having her powerful influence in their lives. Margie Kloesel was not only the role model for the next generation of women, but she was a caring and loving person: a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, and a grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Kloesel was preceded in death by her parents, husband:  Theodore L. Kloesel, daughter:  Judy M. Kloesel McKee, son:  Mark L. Kloesel, and grandsons:  Christopher Kloesel and Joey McKee.  She is survived by her sons:  Paul Kloesel and wife Galina and Kurt Kloesel and wife Lori, brother:  David Zatopek and his wife Martha, her niece Lisa Hopmann, nephew Jeffery Zatopek; grandchildren:  Holly Raven, Aurora Kloesel, Kcenia Kloesel, Emily Bartlett, Josie McKee, Tristan McKee, Theodore Kloesel, Michael Kloesel, Brandon Kloesel, David Kloesel, and Catherine Kloesel, numerous other family members and friends.
