Kathryn was born on February 4th, 1982 to James and Shannon Broe. She spent much of her childhood and teenage years in Dayton, Texas before moving to Port Isabel in 1997. In 2000, she graduated from Port Isabel High School and attended the University of Texas-Brownsville where she studied criminal justice.
Family and friends were very important to Kathryn. Those closest to her affectionately called her “Kat”. If you were ever a friend of Kat’s, then you knew her loyalty and willingness to help with whatever she could ran very deep. She would volunteer to help you move, clean your house, or take you a soda if she felt it may help your day out just a little bit.
Meeting new people and trying new things were some of the things that Kat enjoyed doing. She loved talking with new people and sharing life stories. New adventures in the form of traveling, a new job, or a new activity to try were things that she would put full energy into. Kat enjoyed trying to preserve the memory of outings and events with her love of scrapbooking.
Having fun and laughing were some of Kathryn’s favorite things to do. Spending time with her husband & sons, parents, siblings, and close friends brought about some of the best memories. Her ability to lighten up a room and change a mood from somber to happy was amazing and will be greatly missed by all who were in her life.
One of the greatest joys of Kathryn’s life was the arrival of her first son, Collin Lane Barefoot on March 6th 2003. In June 2007, Kathryn married Raymond Beason & on January 16th, 2009, she was blessed with the birth of her second son, Raymond Maddox Beason. She loved being a mom and strived be the best every day.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Raymond: 2 sons, Lane Barefoot & Maddox Beason; parents, James & Shannon Broe of Port Isabel; 2 sisters, Sheri Smith of Ohio & Victoria Eckert and husband, Steve, of San Antonio; a brother, James Broe of Baytown; mother-in-law, Deloris Beason; 3 nieces, Shyann, Claire, and Savannah; and 1 nephew, Chase.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have to miss the dance
