Karla Yvette Phelps

Karla Yvette Phelps, 66, of Crosby, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, in Baytown.

Karla was born October 14, 1957 in Dallas, Texas, to parents; Bill Phelps and Charlotte Bullock, a former resident of Dallas, and has resided in Crosby for the past 37 years.  She attended Lee College, received her bachelor’s degree in nursing and valedictorian from the University of Texas Medical Branch Downtown, and was a retired pediatric nurse for Texas Children’s Hospital.  Karla also enjoyed crocheting, reading, travel, her Dr Pepper, but especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Phelps was preceded in death by her husband: Howard Keith Underwood, father:  Bill Phelps, mother:  Charlotte Bullock, stepmother:  Janet Phelps, sisters:  Sharon Phelps and Peggy Elizabeth Phelps, nephew:  Marcus Phelps, and great-nephew:  Zane Phelps.  She is survived by her children:  Charlotte Underwood, John “Jed” Underwood, Scout Underwood, and Jason Norton, brother:  Mark Phelps, granddaughter:  Angelina, niece:  Chrissy Phelps, nephews:  Alex Phelps and Jeremy Phelps, great-nephew:  Reed Phelps, numerous other relatives, and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown with services concluding thereafter.
