Jerline (Jerre) Jackson

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our Nana, Julia Jerline “Jerre” Newberry Jackson.

She left us on May 22, 2023. She was the daughter of Ollie Gleaner Lofton and William Carol Newberry. Born on May 30, 1926 in Pocahontas Arkansas, she was one of 7 children, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. All precede her in death. She was blessed to find the love of her life Clarence Wallace Jackson. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and they were married a year later on November 6, 1943. Their marriage lasted 71 years until his death in May of 2015. Wallace and Jerre moved to Baytown, TX after WWII and raised two children, Daniel Wallace and Cynthia Diane. Jerre was a wonderful mother who gave her whole life to her children and grandchildren. To her grandchildren she was our safe place. She was also a working mother, working and retiring in banking. She was a past Matron of Kansas Chapter 7 and Worthy Matron of the Cedar Bayou Chapter 11 Order of the Eastern Star Grand Chapter of Texas and a long time member of First Christian Church in Baytown. Jerre earned the love and friendship of many through the years.

The legacy she leaves behind are as follows and those who mourn and survive her:  Her son Daniel and his wife Cathy, her daughter Cynthia, her 5 grandchildren Julie Jackson Barlow and her husband Brad Barlow, Brian Chandler Boyd, Jeremy Daniel Jackson, Karyn Danielle Esbrandt, Drew Taylor Jackson and his wife Alissa Nicole McCabe Jackson. Her great grandchildren Bonnie Rose Barlow, William Wallace Barlow, Leigha Nicole Jackson, Evelyn Claire Jackson, Carter Wallace Jackson, Lauren Danielle Jackson.

Jerre “Nana” will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at the Cedar Bayou Masonic Cemetery Baytown TX Saturday June 24 10:00 am.
