Joseph “Matt” Matthew Poole, Jr., 62, of Baytown, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home.
Matt was born January 5, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas, to parents Joseph and Frances Poole and has been a resident of Baytown for over 50 years. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1979. Matt was a veteran of the United States Navy and after honorably serving his country, he pursued a higher education and obtained an Associate of Arts and Science degree from MTI. For the last 11 years, Matt worked in Specialty Sales at Lowe’s in Baytown, Texas. During his tenure at Lowe’s, he furthered his education and received a bachelor's degree in interior design.
Throughout his life, Matt engaged in a variety of hobbies and interests. He and his wife of 30 years, Frannie, are lifetime members of the Baytown Little Theater. Light design and directing were two of Matt’s passions, and every once in a while, you could catch him on stage – but not singing. Additionally, Matt was a military history enthusiast and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with family and friends, a Sci-Fi fanatic, NASCAR aficionado (turning left), and always had a recommendation at the ready for dinner suggestions. Popcorn at midnight, anyone? Above all, Matt was a doting grandfather (Natt to the grandkids) and loved nothing more than supporting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery Poole.
He is survived by his parents, his wife: Frannie Poole, children: Jennifer McDaniel and spouse Todd, Sean Laubach and spouse Jessica, Megan Laubach and partner Creston Long, Ryan Laubach and spouse Jean, and bonus kid Sam Gorashko and spouse Justin, grandchildren: Gavin, Julian, Alize, Maddox, Alizha, Adrian, Felix, Gabriel, Leo, Chandler, and Connor; his siblings: Paul & Susan Poole, Brenda & Terry Guilliams, Tim & Teri Poole, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family members, and friends.
Information regarding Matt’s Celebration of Life will be disseminated at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Matt’s name to the American Cancer Society (donate3.cancer.org) or the Baytown Little Theater (baytownlittletheater.org).
