Joel A. “Joe” Eddleman, 84, of Baytown, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at his residence. 

Joe was born April 20, 1939 in Whitney, to parents; Woodrow W. and Mary Francis Taylor Eddleman, and has been a lifelong resident of Baytown.  He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, received an associate degree from Lee College, and member of Missouri Street Church of Christ. 

Joe and Patsy Eddleman first met on a blind date at the age of 17 and Joe was smitten right off the bat. After a 6-month courtship and 1 year engagement, they were married with 3 beautiful children to follow as they began their 65 years of matrimony together.   

Joe was highly respected and known for his integrity and work ethic. His career began at Huber, followed by Tenneco, and then 29 years at Bayer while simultaneously serving as a Professor at Lee College and flying as a Corporate, Charter, and Private Pilot. During his time at Bayer, Joe served as a Safety and Hazmat Response Team Supervisor. Joe was also a flight instructor with 60-plus years of flying experience under his belt, accumulating over 76,000 hours in the cockpit. Aside from his experience and studies in Safety, Emergency Response, and Meteorology, he earned numerous prestigious certifications and participated in 1,000 volunteer hours with the American Red Cross First Aid, Water Safety. and Small Craft Programs. He was also a Master Instructor and Director for the Texas A&M Fire Protection Training School. In addition to holding multiple titles, he always found time to teach his children and grandchildren how to drive and after retirement, he enjoyed fishing, keeping up a beautiful yard, and continued his passion of flying.  

Mr. Eddleman was preceded in death by his parents, daughter:  Melanie Eddleman, son:  Steven Eddleman, brother:  Don Eddleman, an infant grandson:  Timothy Pulsifer, and son-in-law: Gregg Fulton.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years:  Pat Wood Eddleman, daughter:  Jennifer Townsend and husband Bill, grandchildren:  Justin Pulsifer, Brittani Pulsifer and companion  Arthur Patton, Chelsea Pulsifer and fiancé Matt Linares, Ashley Eddleman, Amanda Eddleman Payne, Shane Fulton and wife Arely, Brooke Fulton Veirgever and husband Ross, and Michael Fulton and wife Brooke, great-grandchildren:  Jamison Pulsifer, Gregg Fulton, Liam Fulton, Landon Patton, Beau Fulton, and Lilah Payne, numerous other relatives, and friends. 

The family would like to extend special appreciation to close family friend and neighbor Leigh Chamberland and granddaughter Chelsea Pulsifer for all of the endless care and support they provided.
