Joanna Gail Miller

Joanna Gail “Susie” Miller, 67, of Baytown, rejoined her Lord and Savior on June 6, 2020. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on February 8, 1953 to parents Thomas Earl and Myrtle Ruth Thrash. She moved to Texas at an early age and grew up in the areas of San Antonio and Houston. She raised her family in Baytown.

Joanna loved fishing, playing baseball, and bowling on various leagues for over 30 years. She was an artist at heart. She painted many beautiful oil paintings for family and friends throughout the years. She enjoyed sending hand painted cards and hand made gifts to loved ones. She also expressed her love of art through ceramics, woodworking, and glass. Joanna loved God and loved people. She found the most joy in teaching children about the love of Jesus at her church, Second Baytown. She genuinely loved every child she met as if they were her own. She loved being a “Mimi” to her grandchildren and was a friend to everyone. Her energizing personality was unmatched and made a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Joanna was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Damon Dee Miller; son Damon D. Wayne Miller; and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Janica Gail Holcomb and husband, Todd; son Curtis Earl Miller and wife, Tonya; grandchildren Brandy Gayle Holcomb and Curt Logan Miller; brothers Michael Thrash and wife Ricky; Larry Thrash and wife Frances; and Andrew Thrash; as well as numerous other close family members.

Joanna’s visitation will be Monday, June 15 from 1 PM to 2 PM in the sanctuary of Second Baytown Church; 6227 North Main, Baytown, TX 77521. Her celebration of life will begin at 2 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Baytown’s children ministry.
