Howard Towler

May 8, 1935 ~ January 20, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Jesse “Howard” Towler, Sr., 82, of Crosby, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 20, 2018, after being a lifelong resident of the area. 

Howard was born in Dayton, Texas, on May 8, 1935, to David Towler and Susan McWhorter Towler.  Howard graduated from Crosby High School in 1953 and then proudly served in the U. S. Army. He chose a career as an operator in the petrochemical industry and retired from Geon Chemical.  A faithful member of First Baptist Church in Crosby, Howard enjoyed hunting, wood working and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patty Ray “Nan Naw” Moore Towler; in-laws, Goldie and Ray Moore; brother, D. D. Towler; and sisters, Dorothy Patterson, Verda James, Sally Boone, and Jewel Poe. Howard is survived by his sons, Jesse H. Towler, Jr. and wife, Rena, Jerry R. Towler and wife, Kim; four grandchildren, Chloe Towler, Holland Towler, Nicole Towler Herrington and husband, Carl, and Reese Towler; sisters, Virginia Waldrop, Hazel Morris, Bonnie Morris and Margie Smith; and brother, Marvin Towler.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church of Crosby on Friday, January 26, at 10 a.m., with Reverend Robin Butler officiating.  Burial will follow at Huffman Cemetery.  Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Carl Herrington, Reese Towler, Donald Ray Smith, Ray Doskocil and Roger Boone.
