Janice Gaynell Liles, 86, of Baytown, Texas passed away November 20,2020, with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Fred Edward Davis and Helen Louise Davis on Jan. 22, 1934, in Conroe, Texas. She was a kid of the Humble Oil Camps. Jan graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1952 and was a member of the Lee Brigadiers drum and bugle corps.

She married Joe Liles, her sweetheart, soon after he returned from Korea, on October 8,1955, and they lived in Baytown for 65 years. Jan is survived by her three sons: Stephen Liles of Baytown, Dalton Liles and his wife Angela Alksne-Liles of Friendswood and Andrew Liles of Baytown. She is also survived by three grandsons, Lane Alksne-Liles, Quinn Alksne-Liles and Logan Liles.

Jan leaves behind her husband Joe and sisters Judy Ledbetter and Joanne Widner, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joe and Jan loved to travel. They both loved Colorado, San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans and especially Monterey, Mexico. They made the World Fairs in New York and New Orleans. They traveled to Mexico annually to buy handmade pots for their nursery business, Liles Nursery, which was destroyed in hurricane Alicia in 1983. Jan worked her whole life, but her best times were at R.W. Johnson Construction from 1976 to 1994. She was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family never missed mass and all three boys completed their twelve years of catechism.
