James Michael Grimes

James Michael Grimes, 45, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Galveston.

James was born June 5, 1972 in Baytown, was a former resident of Clear Lake, and has resided in Galveston for the past three years.  He was a graduate of Ross Sterling High School class of 1990, received his Associate Degrees in Process Technology and Electrical & Instrumentation from Lee College, and was an operation supervisor for Marathon.  He also enjoyed surfing, travel, motorcycles, and extreme sports.  James will be remembered by his place in the Texas Surfing Museum and the fact that he partied hard and worked even harder. He was also a selfless person who cared about others, and in the end he gave the ultimate gift as an organ donor.

Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his brother:  Josh Grimes, cousins:  John Bland and Christopher Tindall, and grandparents:  Finley and Marie Tindall, Hester Johnson, Jewel Fullen, and Julie Welch.  He is survived by his son:  David Grimes, daughter:  Zoe Grimes, fiancé:  Brandee Conrad, parents:  Nancy and Neal Johnson, sister:  Natalie Ortiz, nieces:  Carmella Ortiz and Mariella Ortiz; and Archie Grimes, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and best friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary services at 7 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Baytown with services concluding thereafter. Officiating the Mass will be Fr. Khanh Ho of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crespo & Jirrels Funeral and Cremation Services in Baytown.
