James Milton Gibbs

James Milton “Big Jake” Gibbs, 79, of Baytown, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, in Mt. Belvieu.

James was born January 6, 1943 in Salinas, California, to parents; Maurice R. and Deborah Parker Gibbs. He was a former resident of Eudora, Arkansas, and has resided in the Baytown area for the past 47 years.  He was a graduate of Eudora High School, attended Henderson State University, and was a retired equipment operator for Diamond Shamrock.  James also enjoyed fishing and going to garage sales.

Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents and son,  Marquis Edward Gibbs and the mother of his three sons, Nancy Jo Vencill Gibbs. He is survived by his sons:  Stephen Gibbs and wife Erica and James Maurice Gibbs, sister:  LaVonne Patrick and husband Kendall, daughter-in-law: Monica Gibbs, grandchildren:  Austin Gibbs, Grayson Gibbs, Kaylea Gibbs, Kaegan Gibbs, and Kynlea Gibbs, great-grandson:  Zeke Gibbs, numerous other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends form 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., with funeral services at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter.
