Hortencia Munguia

Hortencia "Chacha" Munguia, age 71 of Baytown. Departed from this life on Thursday, February 6, 2020 while surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on July 29, 1948 in Matamoros, Mexico to her late parents Jesus Rosas Gongora and Hortencia Del Fierro.

Hortencia was a loving mother and homemaker who loved her family with all her heart. She had a great sense of humor and always played little pranks on the grand kids.  She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, music, and dancing.  She was always the life of the party. She enjoyed traveling with her husband of 45 years to Mexico to see family and friends.

Hortencia was known to be meticulous. She celebrated every occasion, but she especially enjoyed celebrating everyone's birthday.  

She was such a giving person.  Everyone knew that her trademark was her red lipstick! 
 

Hortencia was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She will be missed by all that knew her, but her memory will live on. As her health declined, she often repeated "Tengan Fe" and "Al mal tiempo buena cara"

She is survived by her husband, Santiago Munguia Medina Sr., by her daughters, Soila L. Luna-Solis, and Gladys Munguia; her son, Santiago Munguia Jr. and wife, Nora; her grandchildren; Refugio Solis III, Allyson Munguia-Munoz, Santiago Munguia III, Juan Martinez, Noah Munguia, Jaden Munguia, Jonathan Munguia, and Luke Matthew Munguia. her sister Guadalupe Rodriguez; her brothers; Humberto Martin Rosas, Raul Rosas, and Rolando Rosas. 

Hortencia was preceded by sister Cleotilde Olivares, brothers; Gil Rosas Sr., Jesus Rosas Sr., Sergio Rosas, Humberto Rosas.

The family will welcome friends from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, February 7, 2020 for a public visitation in the chapel of Crespo and Jirrels funeral home. At 6:30 there will be a rosary. On Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:30 PM there will be a funeral rite in the chapel of Crespo & Jirrels funeral home followed by the interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
