Harold was a walking encyclopedia, a wealth of knowledge…truly the smartest man I know. He absolutely loved History. He always said, “You don’t know where you’re going, if you don’t know where you’ve been.” He was a God-fearing man and stood strong in his Christian faith. If you had a question about the Bible or world news, he had the answer. Harold loved to read non-fiction books, watch good ole’ western movies and all sports, especially college football and loved the Longhorns. Harold was an avid runner through most his life and had the most wonderful sense of humor. He loved all the old country music and a juicy hamburger.
Harold proudly served in the Navy from 1958 – 1962, enlisting after graduating high school, in 1958. After the service, Harold made his way to the chemical plants, along with refereeing high school football, that he so enjoyed. He was an operator in the Makrolon Unit of Bayer Chemical Plant, Baytown, TX, where he went by the name “Rainbow,” and after many years of service, he retired from Bayer in 2001.
“Job well done, good and faithful servant.” Go rest high on the mountain and we’ll be seeing you again. We love you Dad!
