Tribute

George W. McCormick, 70, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020, in Baytown.

George was born May 2, 1949 in Genoa, Italy, to parents; Buster and Grazia Leonardi McCormick, and has been a lifelong resident of Baytown.  He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, attended Lee College, was a veteran of the US Army serving in the 101st Airborn during Vietnam, and retired as a boilermaker from Occidental Petroleum.  George loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his horses. He was also a true music lover, enjoyed travel, and Italian cuisine.

Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by his wife:  Phyllis McCormick, parents:  Buster and Grazia Leonardi McCormick, and brother:  Michael Harrison.  He is survived by his sisters:  Louise Ashworth and Marcella McCormick, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020, at the Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands, with services concluding thereafter.

The family would like to thank Dr. Fernando Sarti for providing years of exceptional medical care and friendship to George. In addition, special thanks to ADL Assisted Living in Highlands, Texas, for the phenomenal and compassionate care they provided to him in his final days.
