Gabriel Joseph Chapa

Gabriel Joseph “Gabe” Chapa, 26, of Baytown, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at his residence.

Gabe was born March 9, 1992, in Baytown, to parents; Oscar, Jr. and Gloria Flores Chapa, and has resided in Baytown throughout his life.  He was a graduate of Ross S. Sterling High School and was a star athlete on the water polo team, winning two state championships in his 4 years. After graduating high school, he attended Mesa State College in Colorado.

Gabe will be remembered for his free spirit; he was the perfect embodiment of an unconditional friend, helping any friend or acquaintance with anything they ever needed. Gabe was an amateur master griller and enjoyed making those memories with his son, Noah. Gabe always enjoyed singing, dancing, and playing video games of all sorts, but spending time with his son skateboarding around the neighborhood outshined them all.  Everyone loved Gabe, evident by the countless number of families who have adopted him as one of their own over the years. His personality filled any room, and he had the ability to shine a bright light on any grim situation, making you smile and laugh with his goofy stories.

Gabriel Chapa was preceded in death by his grandfathers:  Oscar Chapa, Sr. and Mike Flores.  He is survived by his son:  Noah Chapa and his mother, Marlinda Martinez, mother:  Gloria Chapa, father:  Oscar Chapa, Jr. and wife Yvonne, sisters:  Felicia, Brisa, and Laysha Chapa, brother:  Matthew Chapa, grandmothers:  Hilda Chapa and Doria Alvarado, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown with interment following at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands.
