Eugenia “Jenny” Lee Cone-Lawrence, 86, of Baytown, passed away on March 2, 2020. She was born on January 30, 1934 in Conroe to parents
Lee P. and Alice V.Cone.
Jenny married the love of her life on December 30, 1949, “Jack” Lawrence. They went on to have 5 wonderful children.
What all started with a little love bloomed into a relationship nothing short of laughter, love, memories, and now a lifetime. It was as perfect as it could be, and Jenny was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandmother. She was known to be a superb cook. Greens, okra, beans, were all made by the pot load and when the holidays came Jenny started days before an event to make sure that nothing was missing. Jenny used to tell people, “you need to eat”, and she made sure they did! When loved ones would have a birthday, she was sure to bake their favorite dessert. German chocolate cake, cherry pie, she could do it all, and she did. That was her special way of showing her love for everyone and anyone. She fed people from the church, those in need. At times, the Lawrence children’s friends would beg to eat dinner at their house because they knew just how great of a cook Mrs. Lawrence was! Jenny and Jack were long time members of Eastside Church of Christ, in Baytown.
Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Roy Jackson Lawrence; sons, Darrell Jackson Lawrence, and Jerrel Paul Lawrence; sister Eunice Faye Crunk; and brother, Roy D. Cone.
She is survived by her daughter, Jana Darlyn Hornberger and husband Fred of Victoria; sons; Royce Lee Lawrence and wife Robyn of LaPorte, and Jayme Douglas Lawrence and wife Karen of Baytown; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and brother, Leon Cone as well as numerous family members and friends.
