Emma Lou LaFour Mengo, 80, of Baytown, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018, at her residence, after a long battle with cancer.
Emma was born September 17, 1937 in Wallisville, Texas, to parents; Morgan and Clara Capps LaFour. Upon graduating from Anahuac High School in 1955, Emma Lou met and married Keith D. “Tyke” Mengo in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and settled in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In 1973, Emma Lou and Tyke moved their family to Baytown, Texas, where they raised four children.
A lifelong member of Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church in Wallisville, Texas, Emma Lou enjoyed being a wife, mother, and Mimi. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling to Las Vegas, Biloxi, and Lake Charles. Later in life, she was an avid fan of sports, and loved her Rockets, Texans, and Astros.
Mrs. Mengo was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Keith D. “Tyke” Mengo, brother: Gerald “Buddy” LaFour, and sister: Naomi Geisendorff. She is survived by her son: Thomas Dean Mengo and wife Connie, daughters: Pam Mengo and partner Lisa Fincke, Tamara Lewis, and Candice Arnett, sister: Sharon LaFour Elliott and husband Burl, grandchildren: Rachel Gates and husband Damen, Rhett Mengo and wife Nicole, Ryan Mengo, Randall Mengo and wife Tiffany, Trey Lewis and wife Nicole, Morgan Davenport and husband Trint, and Cameron Arnett and girlfriend Tisha Finley, great-grandchildren: Remy Belle Gates, Peyton Mengo, Haylie Mengo, Hannah Mengo, Cadence Lewis, Holten Lewis, Tyke Davenport, Major Davenport, Ava Arnett, and Axel Arnett, numerous other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church in Wallisville with interment following at Wallisville Cemetery in Wallisville.
