Emilio R. Ruiz, Jr., 80, of Baytown, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at his residence.
Emilio was born October 5, 1939 in Smithville, to parents; Emilio and Felipa Rangel Ruiz, and has resided in Baytown for the past 14 years. He was a graduate of Smithville High School, a welder and ship door fabricator by trade, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a former Smithville Cemetery caretaker, truck driver, and painter. Emilio also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, gardening, playing golf, gardening, and baseball.
Mr. Ruiz was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Josephine Garcia, and brothers: Raymond and Aurelio Ruiz. He is survived by his wife: Alice Delgado Ruiz, daughters: Caroline R. Browder and husband Tim and Delores R. Odom and husband Robert Carlton, III, son: Carlos J. Ruiz and wife JoAnn, brother: Otilio Ruiz, sister: Refugia Campos, "Uncle Bill" Ruiz, grandchildren: Danny L. Browder, Leslie E. Prince and husband Jace A., Erik D. Odom and wife Kate Lee, Emily M. Odom, Michael A. Odom, Dalton J. Ruiz, Caleb A. Ruiz, Marissa Pereira, Erik Pereira, Alex Pereira, great-grandchildren: Margaret P. Odom, Jacob L. Browder, Noah J. Browder, Forrest A. Prince, and Emilia R. Prince, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary services at 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown with interment following at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands.
