Elvira Campos Delgado, 101, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Elvira was born July 6, 1919 in Goose Creek before it was known as Baytown, to parents:  Jose and Maria De Jesus Ramos Campos, and has been a lifelong resident of Baytown. 

 It was in Baytown that she met her husband Canuto Joe Delgado, (or “Bullet” as many knew him) who she married in 1936 and remained married to for 70 years until his death in 2007.

 Elvira or (Grandma Delgado as many knew her) was employed by GCCISD as a custodian for more than 20 years before retiring to stay home and do what she really loved, cook and spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed going on family vacations, dancing, and never missed any sports activity, dance recital, graduation, birthday or special event that she was invited to by her family.

Elvira was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church since her marriage there and served Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church as a member of the Guadalupanas. 

Mrs. Delgado was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Maria De Jesus Ramos Campos, husband of 70 years:  Canuto “Joe” Delgado, daughters:  Maria De Jesus Magdaleno and Hermelinda Delgado, brothers and sisters:  Felicita Bravo, Jesus Campos, Servando Campos, Manuel “Mito” Campos, Isabel Lopez, and Jesse Campos, grandchildren:  Kimberly Ann Salinas and Jason Andre Ramirez, and great great-granddaughter:  Miah Salinas.  

She is survived by her children:  Rebecca Salinas and husband Rudy, Canuto Mario Delgado, Anna Rosalia Delgado, Servando Joe Delgado and wife Letty, and Timothy Lawrence Delgado, brother:  Antonio “Tony” Campos, 20 grandchildren of their own including: Albert Magdaleno and wife, Linda, Evelyn Montalvo, Bryan Salinas and wife, Sandra, Beverly Gill and husband, Matt, Aaron Delgado and wife, Lissette, Cristen Thompson and husband, Clint, Jason Ramirez, Priscilla Trujillo and Juan C., Dustin Delgado, Kelsey Delgado Trujillo and husband, Salvador, Jonathan Delgado and wife, Tanya, 27 great-grandchildren: DeLina Luna, Isaiah Magdaleno and wife, Brittany, Alysse Salinas and husband, Jeremiah, Matthew Montalvo and wife, Teresa, Maria Santana and husband, Rodney, Jesus Montalvo III and wife, Jessica, Chanel Hildebrand, Payton and Averie Salinas, Lindsey Reyes, Kimberly Villareal, Kaden, Bryce, and Addison Delgado, Juan Andre and Alexis Trujillo, Madalyn Delgado, Layla, Christian, and Ariya Trujillo, Ava and Sebashtian Delgado 16 great great-grandchildren: Jillian and Marissa Montalvo, Ava and Alaina Santana, Josiah and Jaxon Montalvo, Angell and Elijah Luna, Isaac, Daisy and Brayden Magdaleno, Alyssa Velasco, Breanna DeLeon, and Skye, Delilah and Kane Salinas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Albert Magdaleno, Bryan Salinas, Aaron Delgado, Matthew Montalvo, Dustin Delgado, Jonathan Delgado, Juan Andre Trujillo, Isaiah Magdaleno, and Jesus Montalvo III.

The Delgado family would like to thank everyone for the numerous prayers, love and condolences that we have been receiving.  It is truly a wonderful feeling to know how many peoples lives Elvira Delgado touched.  We realize that there are many people that would have wanted to come and pay their respects to such an amazing woman and we would have loved nothing more than to welcome all of you to attend. 

Unfortunately, due to COVID and social distancing, we will be having a private family funeral. The Delgado Family would like to extend their sincerest apologies for this, but it is just in an effort to keep everyone safe in this terrible pandemic. Therefore, we would like to offer this alternative and we hope you will tune in:
