Edward Early Lemelle

Edward “Eddie” Early Lemelle was born October 16, 1940 in Leonville, Louisiana to parents Early and Lassie Auzenne Lemelle. He was a charter member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Edward retired from Phillip’s Petroleum after 38 years of service. He was a jack of all trades. When asked if something could be done, he would never say “I can’t.” Edward would say “I’ll try” and would succeed. After retiring from the plant, he continued to do carpentry and owned and operated Eddie’s Lawn Service. He continued his lawn service until the day he died. Edward was a quiet, simple man with a heart of gold that loved his family, work, gardening, and his dogs.  He also loved to cook for family and friends at any occasion. 

Edward is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Orelia Singleton Lemelle. His son is Glenn Lemelle and wife Stephanie from Baytown, Texas. His daughters are Carolyn Raggette and husband Keith of San Antonio, Texas; and Cynthia Beecher and husband Ward of Clear Lake, Texas. The grandchildren are Jeanette Lemelle of Houston, Texas; Chelsea Broussard and husband Terrance of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; Danielle Anthony and husband Christian of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Keith Jr. and Jarrett Raggette of Pearland, Texas; Sloan and Alexis Beecher of Clear Lake, Texas; and Landon Weaver and Aiden Vojacek of Baytown, Texas. There is one great-grandchild, Kinsley Ann Broussard of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Edward has one sister, Mary Ann Marcel and husband James of Leonville, Louisiana, and a host of nieces and nephews. Edward is preceded in death by parents, Early and Lassie Lemelle; one brother, Joseph Lemelle and wife Dorothy; and two sisters, Earlene and Gertrude Lemelle.
