Dolores Garza, 71, of Baytown, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2019, with her loving family at her side. Dolores was born on November 9, 1948 in Premont, Texas to parents Pedro and Camila Porras.
Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was the keeper of secrets, a mother and grandmother to many, and a friend to all. She had a truly caring spirit about her and it’s no surprise that she took the best care of her husband, children, grandchildren, and others that were very dear to her. She loved to joke and had a great sense of humor. Dolores also enjoyed taking trips to the casino and the occasional scratch off. It was odd for her not to be always going and doing things because she was a social butterfly. She also enjoyed handheld games, making cascarones, enjoyed watching Texans football, attending family gatherings, eating crawfish, and loved her some shrimp fried rice. She will be missed by all that knew her, but her memory will live on.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Aurora DeLeon and Maria “Cha-Cha” Ramirez; brothers: Othon Porras, Pedro Porras Jr., and Felix Porras; co-mothers-in-law: Nancy Mescher and Linda Elmore.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 50 years, Porfirio Garza; daughters: Alma (Kurt) Mescher, Anna (Thomas) Elmore, and Hilda Garza; grandchildren: Stefan Elmore, Kyle Mescher, Kierra Elmore, DeJanell DeVore, Calli DeVore, and Javone Elmore; sisters: Irma (Carlos) Cruz, Eva (Jim) Wagner, Diana Fischer, and Alicia Garza; brothers: Hector (Delia) Porras, Juan (Maggie) Porras, and Frankie (Eva) Porras; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The family welcomes you to join them on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 12 to 1 PM for a visitation followed by a 1 o’clock funeral service at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas. The interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Cedarcrest Cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Stefan Elmore, Kyle Mescher, Javone Elmore, George Rios, Denzel Citizen, and Montrell Jeffery.
