Delia “Dee” Vega, 73, of Baytown, Texas, went home to her Lord and Savior on November 30, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family. Delia was born January 21, 1946 in Michigan to parents Estevan and Maria De La Cruz. Her family moved often because her father was a traveling Pentecostal minister. Once she met the love of her life, Michael Vega, she married him, and it planted some roots. She and Michael went on to have three beautiful children. Delia, or as most knew her as, Grandma GiGi, was a true servant of the Lord. She was a very strong member of her church, The Coat of Many Colors Ministries for over 12 years and they considered her to be one of their very own prayer warriors. She found great joy in praying for everyone and anointing everything in the church. It was her desire to pray for everybody, coming and going, those she knew and didn’t know. She always had a welcoming spirit and Love for all. Her passion was ensuring the House Of God was always clean and did it with a spirit of excellence. Her favorite scripture she would live by was
Isaiah 54:17 - No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.....
She is joining in everlasting glory her parents; son, Michael Vega, Jr.; stepmother, Viviana De La Cruz; five brothers and two sisters. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years Michael Vega; daughters, Michelle Vega and Gloria Vega; grandchildren, Richard Mata Jr., Alyssa Herrera, and Joe Gutierrez; great grandsons, Richard Mata III and Xavier Garcia; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The family will welcome friends for a visitation from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at The Coat of Many Colors Ministries, 304 N Pruett St., Baytown, TX. 77520. The funeral service will begin at 6 o’clock followed by visitation until 8 PM.
