Tribute

 

Delainia Lynne Davis, went to be with the Lord Thursday August 27, 2020.  She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. From the time of her birth on September 28, 1956, Delainia has been a force of love and kindness.   She leaves behind her loving husband Auther Brown (Booner) Davis Jr., her three surviving children Cassandra (Cassy) Campbell, Clay Campbell and his wife Tammy Campbell, Callee Venable and her husband Travis Venable.  She was proceeded in passing by John Davis and Chad Davis who she will join in heaven.   

Delainia is survived by a large loving family which includes six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Clay and Tammy’s sons Dalton Campbell and Zach Campbell and daughters Marrisa Campbell and Alyssa Campbell.  Dalton and his wife Amber blessed Delainia with three amazing grandchildren Clarissa, Ellisa, and Madeline.  Callee and Travis blessed Delainia with two amazing grandchildren Hudson and Victoria Venable.  John and his wife Angie also blessed Delainia with an amazing granddaughter Kennedy Davis.   

Delainia began her amazing journey in Oceanside California born to Betty-Jane Drake and Jack Dean.  She spent most of her grade school years in Baytown, Texas with her mother and  father David Pryor.  Delainia had five siblings. She is survived by her two sisters Carrie Pryor-Newman and Carrie’s spouse Rick Newman; Angel Ponder and Angel’s spouse Mike Ponder: and her two brothers David Pryor and David’s spouse Margy Pryor: and Jackie Dean and Jackie's spouse Robyn.   Delainia was proceeded in death by Randy Drake and Jeff Dean. 

Delainia’s main focus in life was her family.  She is survived by an awesome cheering section made up of nieces and nephews that adored her to include Carrie’s children Ashley, Ricky and Drake.  Angel and Mike’s children Janelle, Tiffany and James.  David’s daughters Christina and Zula. Jeff and Loretta’s sons Bryant and Cody. Jackie's children Christian, Jackson, Collin and Avery. 

Delainia obtained her Bachelors of Arts in History with Honors from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1989.  She was active in local and national politics and a dedicated donor to many local charities.  She was named the Democratic Whip in Tennessee Delegation in 2004 to the Democratic Presidential Convention in Boston.  She was also named the Treasurer of the Tennessee Democratic Party in 2004.  While Delainia received many accolades and recognition for what she did in the community and local politics, her love and focus was always her family.  She will always be remembered and cherished as the matriarch of her family.  Delainia and Art’s house was the house where the family gathered for every major holiday.  Delainia’s home was where you went for love and family.  Her capacity for love, life and generosity knew no limits.  Her home was always open, as was her huge heart.  Her legacy of love and kindness will be carried on for generations through her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.  Delainia was an angel we were blessed God allowed to walk among us.   

A private graveside service will be held at 1pm on September 4, 2020 at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Baytown, Texas.  Masks are required and social distance will be observed.  Arrangement are by Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas.
