David was preceded in death by father, Harold Phillips; and sister, Kathy Phillips.
David was born in Hawaii (before it was a state). He spent parts of his childhood in Tennessee, Rhode Island, and settled in Texas as a youth with his family. Not only did David have his biological family, but he also had his "other" family. Friends with whom he rode motorcycles, laughed, and generally enjoyed life. David rode his bike everywhere he could until he just couldn't. Sturgis, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Four Corners... the list goes on. He was a sign builder and took pride in his work. Going down the road he would often point out a sign that he had worked on. David loved life. He had the attitude that no matter what might happen or go wrong, it would all work out in the end. He also loved his hats. You hardly ever saw him without one on. It didn't matter how many he had, if he saw one he liked it got added to his collection. David and Michelle met, fell in love and married. Although according to Michelle it took David a few years to give in! They had 15 years of marriage together.
He fought a good fight against his cancer and finally got tired. We know he is in Heaven watching over us and is riding a Harley on streets of gold.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Encompass Hospice for the love and care given to David and the family during this difficult time.
