Daniel Sandoval, 93, of Baytown, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, in Baytown.

Daniel was born September 4, 1927 in Baytown, to parents; Tomas and Facunda Sanchez Sandoval, and has been a lifelong resident of Baytown.  He attended Robert E. Lee High School, graduated from Southwest Business College, veteran of the US Navy as part of the Underwater Demolitions Team, the predecessors of the modern day S.E.A.L.S. during his service in WW II, an accountant by trade and was extremely proud of the many business he helped get started during his time with the Small Business Administration.  He was instrumental in the Hispanic Civil Rights movement and served as National Treasurer for LULAC., League of United Latin American Citizens.  His efforts included organization, legal representation and meetings with government officials that included Lyndon Johnson and John Connally.  He served as campaign treasurer for the election of Mayor Pete Alfaro and served on the board of The Southeast Texas Housing Finance Corporation. He continued to serve his faithful clientele, that through long associations became his second family, to his final days.  His membership with Our Lady of Guadalupe, where he also was a member of the church choir provided an avenue where he could enjoy his love of music and his faith.   Daniel also enjoyed playing golf, playing the guitar, singing, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Sandoval was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Salome Sandoval, brothers:  Oscar Sandoval and wife Ofelia Sandoval, sisters:  Sophia Rivera and her husband Lionel, Hilda Pena, Brother Melquiades “Chalo” Sandoval and wife Dorita. and daughter-in-law:  Valerie Oviedo.  He is survived by his brother: Tomas Sandoval II and wife Cecilia, sons:  Daniel Sandoval Jr. and wife Melissa, Thomas Sandoval, Gilbert Sandoval and wife Stephanie, Angel Sandoval and wife Mary Lou, constant companion: Javier Garcia, grandchildren:  David Sandoval and wife Fareesa, Lisa Fuller and husband Jacob, Olivia Sandoval, Sarah Sandoval, Gilbert Sandoval II, Daniel Sandoval and wife Leni, Brianna Sandoval, Sophia Sandoval, and Christian Sandoval, step-grandchildren:  Hunter Cervenka, Tyler Cervenka  and Tanner Hale, and great-grandchildren: Felix and Oliver Sandoval and Rosemary Fuller, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, compadres, God children and other relatives and friends it would be impossible to list them all.  Daniel loved and was loved by so many; he was truly blessed.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.

Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
