Charles Lee Davenport went to be with his Lord and savior August 23, 2020.

He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Paris, Texas to William and Ethel (Goolsby Newton) Davenport. Charles married the love of his life, Jane Stubbs on Valentine’s day, 1959 in Houston, Texas. During their 61 years of marriage Charles and Jane loved to travel, going to church, and they really enjoyed going to Southern Gospel Music Concerts. He loved to go fishing; him and Rodney were great fishing buddies. They made many trips to the creeks and Lake Houston to fish. He also enjoyed watching western movies, football games; and he loved his children and spent many hours playing with his grandchildren.

He started working for the Coke Company in 1971. He became an avid Coke a Cola collector; and retiring from Coke after 23 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jane and his two daughters: Becky and Rod Yarbrough; Sarah Jane Davenport Grey and her husband Kevin, Willis, Texas. Four grandsons and their significant others: Rodney Yarbrough and his wife, Sarah LaCour Yarbrough: Marlin Dean Pierce and his wife Anna Roe; Zachary Pierce and fiancé Taylor Perry; Tracy Pierce and fiancé Sara Rossell. He is also survived by three great grandchildren: Hunter Pierce, eight; Isabella Pierce, three; and Beatrice Pierce, two. He is survived by one sister, Katherine Davenport Brooks; and her daughters, two nieces; Cathy Brooks Winkle; and Pat Brooks Moore. He has one surviving sister in law, Nellie Stubbs; and nephew, Mark Stubbs; and two nieces: Linda Green Compton; and Pam Green. Many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews were all part of his life.

Charles is preceded in death by his two children; Robert Wayne and Laura Ann Davenport; also, his parents, ten brothers and two brothers in law: Clyde Brooks and Jerome Stubbs.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Grey, Rod Yarbrough, Rodney Yarbrough, Marlin Pierce, Zachary Pierce, Tracy Pierce, and Mark Stubbs.

Services are Wednesday, 26, 2020, at Tilton Cemetery, Old River, Texas at 3:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ronnie Jordan and Pastor, Dr. Charles Kyle.
