Carol Jean Owens Lartey, 68, of Baytown, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017, in Houston.

Carol was born May 18, 1949 in Manhattan, New York, to parents; Delbert Duff and Nellie Owens, a former resident of Louisiana, and has resided in Baytown for the past 15 years.  She attended numerous universities and received her masters degree in nursing from the University of New York, attended the Faith Family Church, and was a former Toys for Tots volunteer.  Through nursing career, she obtained licenses in New York, California, Louisiana, and Texas.  She also enjoyed church activities, travel, and shopping.

Mrs. Lartey was preceded in death by her parents, son:  Anthony Jones, daughter:  Dirice Jones, sisters:  Adrienne Grant and Rene “Rainy” Owens, and brother:  James “Jack” Owens.  She is survived by her daughters:  Ursula Jones, Sheila Williams and husband Benjamin, and Laudia Lartey, son:  Derrick Jones, brothers:  Gerald Owens and Richard Owens, sisters:  Beverly Gurley and Katrina Black, numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter.
