Carla Catherine Nelson

Carla Catherine Seeley Nelson, 79, died on January 21, 2023, in Baytown, Texas.

Carla was born on October 13,1943, in Baytown, Texas. She was the daughter of Mattie Alice Russell Pearson. She attended Robert E. Lee High School; LaMarque High School; Lee Junior College and Sam Houston State University; and was employed for many years and retired with Bayer Corporation.

Her legacy is strongly influenced by her love of preparing her favorite meals for her friends and family; sharing her recipes; and getting in the kitchen with her granddaughter, Janci and grandson, Luke. Carla loved to travel throughout the world visiting many countries throughout her lifetime. She and her Aunt, Maurice Wilson were continuously planning their next amazing adventure, whether it be St Petersburg, Russia; The Sistine Chapel; or cruising down the Bosphorus River or sailing the Mediterranean Sea in Monaco. Her zest for life and instinctual graciousness towards her many lifelong and newfound friends was a testament of her warm-hearted nature.

Carla is preceded in death by her son, David Duane Nelson; mother, Mattie Alice Pearson;  father, Charlie Seeley; step-father, Carroll Pearson; husband, Larry Tiner; grandparents. Frankie Catherine and Carl Russell; cousins, Judy Page Maynard; Phillip West and Kay Reichenau Ponder; nephew; Norman Ponder; Uncles; Wilson Russell and John Russell; and Aunts, Carla Russell Jones, Frankie Russell West and Elon Russell Reichenau, all whom loved and adored her and played an impactful role throughout her life.

Carla is survived by her daughter and son in law, Carla Renee and Phil Addison; daughter, Lori Gaughan; Son and Daughter in Law, Tien Nguyen and John Nelson; granddaughter, Janci Addison and fiancé’, Travis Eaton; grandson, Luke Nelson; brother and sister in law, Charlie and Ann Seeley; aunt, Maurice Russell Wilson and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks are given to her many caregivers at Swan Manor who provided special care and friendship for many years.

A visitation memorial will be held at Crespo & Jirrels on Saturday, January 28, 2023, 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
