Candace “Candi” Lea Lindstrom went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Baytown, Texas. She was 70 years old.
She was born September 1, 1952 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Janet (Swanson) and Paul Stewart.
She retired from Goose Creek CISD transportation after driving a bus for over 20 years.
After spending her early years in Deer Park, she attended Robert E. Lee High School where she was a Brigadier. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, shopping, watching the Astros (especially Brantley and Maldonado) and spending time with her grandchildren who affectionately called her Nana.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers James K Stewart and Corey Stewart and husband Donald Matthews.
She is survived by children Carrie and Ken Horton, Gina and David Bloom and Kurt Lindstrom, all of Baytown; grandchildren Shelby Leigh of College Station, Melanie Sue and husband Arnold of Mont Belvieu, Kenneth Chase, Grace Ann, Reagan Elizabeth, Riley Claire, John David, all of Baytown, and Julian Kade and Jenna Kate of Seabrook; and great-grandchildren Elleigh Sue and McKenna Ray. She is also survived by her longtime best friend Marilyn Hollomon. Her grand-dogs, Bandit and Bonnie, were special nurses during her illness. Surviving grand-cats include Phoebe, Joey, Aggie, Binx and Biscuit.
The family is grateful to Dr. Medellin and her entire staff for their compassionate care.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, May 11 at 9:00 a.m. with services following at 10:00 a.m. at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home in Baytown.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Day School for Little People at Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church, 3700 N. Highway 146, Baytown, Texas, 77521, in her memory.
