Benita Montalvo

Benita Claudio Montalvo, 86, of Baytown, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital.

Benita was born March 21, 1932 in San Benito, to parents; Marcelino and Remigia Colunga Claudio.  She was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church. When her health kept her from attending church she would watch from home on her TV. Mrs. Montalvo also enjoyed line dancing, and listening to music, especially Sunny 99.1's Delilah, crossword puzzling and sewing for the kids when they were little. Benita had a love like no other for Wheel of Fortune. If you called her while she was watching her show she’d answer long enough to say, “Wheel of Fortune is on, I’ll call you later!”. She also loved her coffee and hot apple pies from McDonalds. She will always be remembered as the life of the party, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a hard worker, as well as a faithful servant of the Lord.

Mrs. Montalvo was preceded in death by her parents, husband:  Jesus Montalvo, Sr., sisters:  Guadalupe Rodriguez and husband Pete and Beatrice Baquera and husband Julian, and brother-in-law:  Arturo Rodriguez.  She is survived by her daughters:  Elvia Sanchez and husband Juan, Nelda Garcia and husband Arturo, and Debra Hernandez and husband Dwayne, sons:  Teodoro Montalvo, Jesus Montalvo, Jr. and wife Deborah and Raul Montalvo and wife Esmeralda, sister:  Angelina Rodriguez, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way, her beloved fur baby:  Tiny, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital for the care given to Mrs. Montalvo.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Rosary services will be held at 6:00 p.m., with funeral liturgy at 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown.

She is worth far more than rubies.
