Anselmo Vargas

Anselmo Vargas, 89, of Baytown, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at his residence.

Anselmo was born April 24, 1932 in Navasota, to parents; Jose Arreguin Vargas and Manuela Moreno Vargas.  He was a retired painter from Brown & Root after 36 years of employment.  He also enjoyed playing slots, fishing, dancing, gardening, the outdoors, and will be remembered as an accomplished handyman.

Mr. Vargas was preceded in death by his wife:  Ramona Flores Vargas, son:  Henry Vargas, granddaughter-in-law:  Maria Cecilia Gonzalez, father:  Jose Vargas, mother:  Manuela Moreno Vargas, siblings:  Ascencion Vargas Soto, Mary Vargas Rodriguez, Josefa Vargas, Benita Hernandez, Guadalupe Vargas Flores, Mateo Vargas, and Teodoro Vargas.  He is survived by his daughter:  Felicia Gomez and husband Juan, sons:  Ramon A. Vargas and Robert Flores, sister:  Remedios Cabrera, grandchildren:  Sofia Vargas, Rachel Vargas, Jose G. Gonzalez and wife Hadasa, Julie Gonzalez and husband Carlos, Sergio Gonzalez, Emily Gomez, and Leslie Gomez, great-grandchildren:  Joshua, Humberto, Mark, Issac, Aileen, Genesis, Sebastian, Savannah, Adrienne, and Melanie, three great- great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friend from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with rosary services at 6 p.m., Thursday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2021, a the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.

Pallbearers will be Jose G. Gonzalez, Sergio Gonzalez, Carlos Hernandez, Robert Flores, Junior Hernandez, Humberto Mora, Robert Cerritos, and Ramon Ruiz.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Mora, Issac Mora, and Joshua Mora.
