Anne Claire Currie Muscat age 78, of Beach City, Texas, passed away December 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Survived by her son Dr. J.O. (Jay) Muscat, IV, his wife Elgene and their children Brennan and Jenna; son Tony Muscat, his wife Laura and their children Connor (and wife Jordyn), Carson and Chandler; son David Muscat, his wife Cathy and their children Emily and Joseph; brother Leslie Currie and family; brother-in-law Kenny Muscat and wife Martha; brother-in-law T. Lee Robinson; numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph O. Muscat, III, parents Floyd and Loraine Currie, and infant brother Joseph.
Anne was born in Mobile, Alabama June 10, 1943 where she was raised with her family she loved dearly; Grandmother Annie Renauld Turner; Aunts Laura Renauld, Lois Turner, Julia O’Hara, Patricia Boyette; and Uncle Marshall Renauld.
She attended school at The Convent of Mercy in Mobile, Alabama and went on to attend college at St. Mary’s Dominican College in New Orleans, Louisiana. Anne and Joe moved from Mobile in 1966 and raised their family in Pasadena, Texas.
Anne founded and ran her own retail nursery and landscape business for almost 40 years. She was an active member of The Texas Association of Nurserymen (TAN), which in 1999 merged to become the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA). Anne was the first Chairman of the Board of the newly formed association. TNLA has grown to represent an industry that has over a $26 billion annual impact. Her awards and accolades are many and include 1993 TAN Staff Award winner, the Anne C. Muscat Region II Endowed Scholarship (established 2007 for students interested in horticulture careers is one of TNLA’s largest endowed scholarships), ARP Award Recipient, originator and Chairwoman of Parks and Patio committee for TNLA EXPO from 1992 until 2021, Honorary Member for Life, Member TNLA Foundation, and Member TNLA PAC. For over 30 years Anne was associated with and spent countless hours working on behalf of Heart of Country antique shows.
The Catholic faith was at the center of Anne’s life. She was particularly proud of her involvement with ACTS retreats. The family would like to thank Father Philip Wilhite for his decades of friendship to our mother.
A memorial mass followed by a celebration of life reception will be held at 11:00 am (Rosary at 10:00 am) on January 8, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (HTCC) in Mont Belvieu, Texas, where Anne and Joe have been members for 25 years.
