Alton Richard Gill, 72, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the Heart of Texas Healthcare in Brady.
Alton was born February 11, 1947 in Kennett, Missouri, to parents; William P. and Mae Klein Gill, a former resident of Mt. Belvieu, and has resided in Dayton since 1983. He was a graduate of Neelyville High School, attended Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy, and veteran of the US Navy with service during Vietnam. Alton was a former sergeant for the Poplar Bluff Police Department, deputy sheriff for Butler County, the railroad industry for 30 years, and Deacon for the South Dayton Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses, and the outdoors.
Mr. Gill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Brenda Little Gill, sons: Keith Gill and Allen Gill and wife Janna, brothers: Preston Gill and Chester Gill, sisters: Carolyn Barker and Kathy Gill Umfress, grandchildren: Marissa Gill, Ashley Gray, Justin Gill, and Ashleigh Gill, great-grandchildren: Blake and Ciera Gray, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home Chapel in Baytown with interment following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.
