Yvonne Henry, 85, of Baytown, passed away, with her loving and devoted son at her side, on June 6, 2017. She was born December 8, 1931, in Trinidad to Wilfred Henry and Pearl E. Gittens Henry. She continued to live there until 1972 when she migrated to St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands.   Yvonne was a very independent, loving and down-to-earth person who loved to help others and was not materialistic.  Others considered Yvonne to be a beautiful and supportive person who was a wonderful friend.  Her family was very important to her and she always worked to provide for their needs.  A woman of faith, Yvonne attended both Catholic and Baptist churches.

While living in St. Croix, Yvonne worked in a pharmaceutical factory, a watch factory and worked in the hospital housekeeping department.  After Hurricane Hugo in September of 1989, she visited Trinidad to take care of her sick father.  After his death in 1990, she moved to Florida and then back to St. Croix in 1992, where her son worked for the Hovic/Hovensa Refinery. Her health began to decline in 2009. After the refinery closed in 2012, Yvonne and her son moved back to Florida.  In August of 2015 Yvonne and her son moved to the Baytown area to ensure she would receive better healthcare.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred Henry and Pearl E. Gittens Henry; and brothers, Ulric Henry, Owen Henry and Edmund Henry.  She is survived by her son, Michael H. Henry; grandson, Terrell Henry; granddaughter, Michelle E. Henry; sisters, Daphne Daiz, Jacqueline Layne, Janet Danclair, and Lucille Mohammed; brothers, Vernon Henry and Desmond Henry; niece, Hazel Benn; and many other nieces, nephews, loving friends and family members.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home.  A celebration of her life will follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels, with Reverend Charles Swick officiating.
