Rose Marie Smith, 99, of Highlands, TX went to the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Rose was a devout catholic, a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters.

Rose was born on September 13, 1917, in Houston, TX to John Hanson and Marie Elizabeth Phillips.  She attended Reagan High School in the Heights.  Rose was married almost 75 years to the love of her life, Eugene Smith. She and Eugene loved to travel the world together. Rose was known for making the BEST potato salad and absolutely loved anything to do with the great outdoors. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. 

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Smith; her parents; son, Eugene Smith Jr.; and sister, Margaret Hanson.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Patricia Haddon and husband Donald, sons, Gary Smith and wife Sally and Gerald Smith and wife Donna; grandsons, Jeff Haddon and wife Cassie, Gordon Smith and wife Anna, Michael Smith, and Brian Smith; granddaughters, Tami Harrison and husband Shawn; Tiffany Berry and Christina Emerson; 13 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, John Hanson and wife Joann; and sisters, Jeanne Smith and Mary Ann Johnson,

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the Chapel at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10:00am in the Chapel at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home, Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, 8624 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Michael Smith, Jeff Haddon, Devin Smith, Shawn Harrison and Gordon Smith.
