Ronald Hector Fortune, 75, of Baytown, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Ronald was born August 7, 1942 in Houston, to parents; Hector V. and Lillian E. Boysen Fortune. He graduated from Austin High School in Houston and attended Sam Houston State University.  Ronald started working at the age of 15 at a local grocery store, he was a former lineman for HL&P, and retired from Shell Chemical as a Pipe Fitter, after 32 years of service. He was a member of the, Tuesday Morning Shell Retiree Domino group, & the Baytown Optimist. He was also a past member of several PTO's & the Sterling High School Band Parents Association, where he & his wife volunteered and headed up numerous fundraisers. In his younger years he loved to Rodeo and was a former steer wrestler and calf roper.  He also enjoyed camping, cruising, fishing, playing dominoes, and especially spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband & father, who absolutely adored his grandchildren.

He was married to the love of his life, Sharon Anderson on November 16, 1963. They made their home in Houston for 3 years, until they moved to Baytown, where they have resided for the past 51 years. 

Mr. Fortune was preceded in death by his parents and infant grandson; Trevor Shanks.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Sharon Anderson Fortune, daughters; Brandi Fortune King and husband Paige and Kimberly Fortune of Baytown, sister;  LaNelle McKay and husband Bruce of Niwot, CO, sister-in-law; Constance Sutterley and husband Robert Barnes of Baytown, grandchildren;  Bailey King, McKenna King, Parker Shanks, and Alexis Shanks, nieces; Lindsay Klein of Baytown, Natalie Heitkamp and husband Harry of Houston, Corinne McKay Urist and husband Dan of Boulder, CO, Great-Niece; Ada Urist, Great-Nephew to be; Baby Heitkamp, numerous cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends & family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, September 4th, at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the Crespo & Jirrels Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
